My daughter's raised 1993 Jeep Wrangler, after sitting for almost a year, needed a smog test so I decided to take the bull by the horns and take care of business. I looked up on the Internet (completely forgot to check Yelp) for a nearby smog test only station and found The Smog Man. FANTASTIC! The gentleman was unbelievably cordial, yet very efficient. He took me within minutes, explained the process and how long it would take. A few other people came in right behind me and he handled them professionally and cordially while tending to my test (very efficient!) It appeared that he was the only one working here, yet things ran so smoothly, it could have been an entire team running the business. Although I fully expected the jeep to fail the test, it passed and he gave me great information on fuel additives if the jeep will be sitting again for more than a week or so, and some advice to check on a couple of things he heard when he cranked it up. I was in and out within about 25 minutes. I will always come back to this place for smog tests.

The Smog Man was professional and efficient. His garage is clean, and he had me out in 15 minutes. He has been around since 2004. As everyone says, print out the coupon for the discount. It cost about $58. I would recommend this place for a hassle free and fast smog check.

I can't believe I experienced a brief moment of zen at a smog check place! A friendly, charming young man took care of my smog check while I waited in a little (but cute) waiting room with candles and magazines. When I didn't pass, he explained the State's repair assistance program and suggested what part might be to blame. I don't think I'll ever have a better smog check experience.

Was recommended this place from a friend who had a great experience. I called ahead to see if they had any time on Tuesday morning and they said to come by. I got there and was assisted right away. The check took 10 minutes which I spent in their clean and airy waiting area. With the 20% off coupon from their website, the total was $58. After reading so many great reviews on Yelp about The Smog Man, my expectations were pretty high. I was pleasantly surprised by the incredibly speedy service, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere... 3 things I never thought I'd write about a test only station! I did not have an appointment, it was easy to find, and I learned a little bit about my car before I left. Have you EVER been to a smog station where you actually enjoyed the experience? Philip is a friendly, courteous, English-speaking mechanic. That's four attributes that are sorely lacking from the vast majority of smog stations in San Jose. Even the AAA Car Care center (one of the more reputable in the area) once got in an argument with me about which gas cap I should have and nearly failed my car before I could get the manager out to point out that he was using the wrong test nozzle thing. I have never had to wait long, and while he does cost a bit more than the coupon people, he doesn't charge more for unique vehicles. And it's every other year, people... That comes out to less than $5/month. You can do this, if only to support a good business. If we all keep supporting the lowest quality just because it is also the lowest price, eventually the world will come to an end and we will all die. Do you want to be responsible for the END OF THE WORLD? Didn't think so... go to Smog Man!

I found The Smog Man when I needed a smog check and checked Yelp to locate someone. He was highly rated by a good number of folks, so I gave him a try. I called around noon to see if there was a wait and was told it was all clear. I arrived and was taken care of immediately. Extremely friendly and fast. Clean shop and clean waiting room. I was out of there in ten minutes. I highly recommend and will use him again when I need another smog test.

I visited this morning and there was no wait. Smog Man took care of my baby and I was in and out in ~10 minutes. His shop is clean and it looks like he's very organized. Fast, friendly service at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?
